When Does Tooth Pain Need a Dentist?
Tooth pain has many causes. A dental examination is the safest way to identify what is happening and what care is appropriate.
Arrange prompt care
Pain that persists, interrupts sleep, occurs on biting, or comes with swelling, fever, injury or a bad taste should be assessed promptly.
Urgent symptoms
Facial swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, significant trauma or uncontrolled bleeding needs urgent medical or dental attention.
Until your visit
Avoid placing aspirin or chemicals on the gum. Follow medicine labels and seek professional advice, especially if you have medical conditions or take other medicines.
